Pamilya Ordinaryo is one of the 2016 Cinemalaya films Directed by Eduardo W. Roy Jr. films that portray the day-to-day lives of Aries and Jane, two teenage parents who live on a street where pickpocketing is their only option to provide for their daily needs. This film will not only educate us on the various social adversities that our country faces, but it will also show us how our society is changing.

Jane and Aries' status as teenage parents is an example of the societal adversity that our country faces. It is not new to us that the number of teenage pregnancies in our country is increasing, and the majority of teenage parents are not financially, mentally, or physically prepared for the responsibility that they have now on their shoulders. What's sad about this is that there are homeless teenage parents who don't have the opportunity to get a proper education, leaving them unprepared to face life's realities.

Police officers are the ones who help solve crimes and protect people who are being abused, but that is not what shows in this film. It is extremely annoying that when Jane went to the police station to ask for help in finding her lost baby, the police officer asked questions he wasn't supposed to ask. What's even more annoying is that Jane had to go through harassment from the person that supposed to be helping her before she got the help, she needed in finding her lost baby. This scene demonstrates how people who are unfortunate in life are sometimes taken advantage of by people who have a high standard of living.

Isn't it strange how someone can go from being selfish to being selfless? In this film, Jane and Aries' ways of life before they have their baby are selfish because they only think of themselves and don't care about the people, they steal things from, but when they do it to find their baby, it is selfless. After all, they don't think about what will happen if they get caught stealing because all they have in their minds is they'll do anything to find their baby.

“Paano kung ang buhay ni baby Arjan doon sa pamilya na iyon maaalagaan siya ng maigi, maibibigay ang mga bagay na hindi natin kayang ibigay kukunin mo pa ba siya? This question that Aries asked to Jane compelled me to take a break from the movie to contemplate and ask myself, "What would I do if I were in their situation?" To be honest, I'm not sure. This made me realize how tough it will be for Jane and Arjan to make a decision once they find their child.

This film is very interesting and good, and it deserves all of the awards it has received. Jane and Aries are the faces of people in our country who are dealing with societal adversity.
